Google Shopping ads are ads that include richer product information such as product image, description, price, promotion and merchant name. They offer a richer ad experience resonating well with shoppers resulting in highly qualified clicks. They also include a direct click to purchase.
Where can I find them?
Users in Australia and Japan can see the ads on Google Shopping, Google Search and some Google Search Partners. In Singapore and New Zealand users see the ads on Google Search. Shopping Ads are also in beta for Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Taiwan. The ads are available across web and mobile platforms.
How are they charged?
Clicks on PLA’s are charged on a cost-per-click (CPC) basis. The cost depends on category.
How effective are they?
Shopping Ads are having much more success and higher click through rates than standard search or text based ads. The key reasons being:
- Shopping ads touch customers further down the purchase path, targeting at the final decision phase with an immediate need.
- Engagement: by the time the user sees a commerce related ad, not only do they have the desire but also the direct click to purchase with a visual and written stimulation and due to the nature of the ad including product description, price and availability they are richer & more engaging.
